Do you know what the top website in Nigeria is? Not Google or Yahoo or Hotmail, but Facebook! People in Africa’s most populous country are connected, and more and more people are joining this massive network every day. The Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) is pioneering family planning advocacy efforts in some of the country’s largest cities.
In order to maximize impact of NURHI’s work, Gillespie Communication collaborated with the project team and designers at Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs to develop a website complementary to project goals. Gillespie Communication led online advocacy trainings for key staff and partners in each project city in Nigeria, including strategic and relevant uses for Web 2.0 technologies in a developing country setting. We also facilitated consultations among Nigeria-based staff regarding website branding, content and design and shared best practices in success story collection and documentary photography.
